Steve Berry lives on the Georgia coast in Camden County. He's a lawyer who, for twenty-five years, has helped people both in and out of the courtroom.
The Venetian Betrayal is not the first book to use as its storyline a race to find the long lost tomb of Alexander the Great and it certainly won't be the last. The Alexander Cipher by will Adams, recently published was a book along the same broad outline and was extremely readable. Steve Berry's offering is just as readable and for those familiar with some of his other books, Cotton Malone will seem like a long lost friend.
Steve Berry got his main characters ironed out several books ago. Cotton Malone, one time US Justice Department agent turned rare book dealer just does not seem able to shake off the ties of his former job nd is constantly being drawn into things he would prefer to steer clear of, either by circumstances or his old associates.
This book as I said at the start is a race by Cotton Malone and an old friend Cassiopeia Vitt, who has helped Malone out of a tight squeeze on more than one occasion. They travel across Europe on through Denmark following a trail of fire. caused by an arsonist who is causing infernos of frightening ferocity to buildings across Europe. The pair reach Venice but still have a long way to travel to the mountains of Central Asia. There quest is to find the lost tomb of Alexander the Great. Why? Well that would be giving too much away. Suffice to say that they are not the only people searching for the tomb and the other ones don't fight fair.
Steve Berry fans will love this book as it re-introduces them to characters that seem like old friends. For those who haven't read his books, give this one a try. Maybe you will start looking for other books by this author.
