Book Review: A frustrating disappointment

I checked this book out from the library. I'm a new knitter and I'm finding out I'm especially fond of stitch dictionaries, but can't possibly afford all that I want. And I haven't yet seen the previous 2 volumes. In this book I liked looking at new/different color interpretations of the stitches patterns. But it was also a huge disappointment and very annoying, because a great many of the swatches weren't blocked. I'm absolutely stunned that the folks at Vogue would knit up swatches, then plop them down to take photographs without even blocking them. I really can't even fathom why they thought it was okay to do that. The stitches and patterns are best viewed and easier to study only when the swatches have been thoughtfully blocked. Otherwise the stitches look distorted and the fabric is rippled and lumpy. I'd recommend first borrowing this one from the library to see if it's to your liking. Only 2 stars because I truly expect Vogue to be top-notch, and it's my opinion that they fell far short on this one.
