Book Reviews of The Witch in Every Woman: Reawakening the Magical Nature of the Feminine to Heal, Protect, Create, and EmpowerBook Review: A guide on how to find yourself and discover your abilities Summary: 5 StarsWow. This book is so helpful! It was the second book i've read on wicca, after a lot of research over the internet, and some lists dedicated to this deep and amazing path. And this book was especially nice, 'cause it isn't just about "how to make a spell for..." no way. It teaches how only YOU have the ability to be *YOU*. It helps you find the strenght, power, glamor and peace you already have. There are comparision with Celtic Myths, but not in a boring way, i mean it's not all about myths. It' so insightful, it's about psychic, feminine, magick... It's about being a maiden, a mother, a worker, a soldier, a cheff... everything you WANT to be, and FOR YOU, and anybody else. It shows you how can you reach your goals by meditating, and how to get that alpha state. It has the practical, the spiritual, the mythical... Complete, and you can't stop reading it.Note: It also was my second book in english, actually. I'm so lazy to read books in english...but imagine how intresting this one was that i could do it! (i'm spanish-spoken)
Book Review: laurie cabot's best book Summary: 5 StarsI have read other books by laurie cabot, and find them to be ok, but this book by far is her best. Shows you how to awaken the witch in yourself, gives you some celtic history told in a fine story manner, and makes you feel proud to be a woman. She shows you the best sides of women that we sometimes forget ourselves, and makes you feel empowered. A must have for all women, even if you're not pagan, still a wonderful addition to your library.
Book Review: Hear me Roar ;) Summary: 5 StarsI liked this book a lot. It was suggested to me by a friend that I trust highly and admire greatly for her wisdom and sense of self, as a woman and as a witch. It was everything she said it would be. Cabot is a great writer, and a wonderful woman. This was a very uplifting, empowering, and inspiring book. I'd recommend it to every woman I know :)
Book Review: Excellent book Summary: 5 StarsThe Witch In Every Woman is an extremely empowering book full of many good legends and lessons. I read it when I'm down and by the time I'm done, I'm ready to take on the world.
Book Review: Don't Bother Wasting Your Time With This Book Summary: 1 StarsBefore getting this book, I had heard nothing but raves about Laurie Cabot and all of her books. I read and reread reviews on all of her books and it sounded as though it would be more than helpful/enlightening to read them. I WAS WRONG. This book was disjointed and the "Celtic" myths were splintered beyond belief. Ms. Cabot would begin on a thought and within the next few sentences she was off on a tangent and never got back to the original thought. It left me wondering what the meanings of her tangents were - IF there was actually any meaning other than ramblings. In the beginning of the book, Ms. Cabot attempts to dispel that Witches are black hat/green skined with a wart on the nose by referring to her 2 friends at a cafe. In the next few sentences, Ms. Cabot then explains that she actually dresses in black robes DAILY because that is what people expect. I wonder if she paints her face green also. The "Celtic" stories she battered are actually Welsh myths. Very good and powerful myths, UNTIL you read them in the book. Valuable information is taken out and the myth is "reinvented" to lead in a different direction. The sentence "She is not crazy" is very different if you leave out the word "not" - this is exactly what happened with the myths in this book. Reworking a myths is one thing, but to claim that your reworking is the TRUE myths, then you are not being honest to the readers. If you want to learn/read about Celtic myths - this isn't the book to read. Try reading books by Alwyn and Brinley Rees. If you want to learn/read about Witchcraft, try reading books by Scott Cunningham or Pauline Campanelli. These will give you much more insight and honesty than this AWFUL book. Blessed Be.
