My brother asked me for these books on mathematics, as he is a scientist and professor at the University of Waseda in Japan. Only three of the four volumes arrived. Instead of replacing the missing volume, Amazon made him send back the three he got at quite a heavy cost for postage. We knew this would be quite expensive and Amazon told me to have him send him back and he would get reimbursed for the postage.
Then I was told by somebody else that he couldn't get any reimbursement.They would only credit my Amazon account. Kind of a hassle for a gift. I didn't want to have to send him money myself. These phone calls to Amazon were so time consuming, and every time it was somebody new, and I'd have to start at the beginning again. There was no written report about the problem that was correct. Their customer service is often in foreign countries, and they don't understand what I'm saying because their English is poor. I screamed at several representatives who got all the info wrong and asked me the same questions over and over again. They couln't even understand that the books went to my brother.
Amazon's customer service with foreign speaking representatives I find extremely frustrating! I spent at least eight hours on many different days straightening this problem out.
I had complete notes of peoples names that I talked to and who said they would reimburse my brother and when but it didn't help. I should have been able to contact the original representative that spoke with me to remedy the missing volume.
I live on an island with no shopping and I use the Internet to buy products almost exclusively
I guess I'll chalk that experience up to poor customer service.
