Book Reviews of The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living DeadBook Review: Who says zombies arent real??? Summary: 5 StarsI took this book a bit seriously and fled to the wilds as quickly as possible!!Seriously though, Totally addictive reading, a must for anyone who has ever watched Dawn of the Dead (or similar) and thought "Yeah, i'd do that. No, I wouldnt do that". It really gets you thinking!! Also a bit paranoid!!
Book Review: Satisyingly Fulfilling Summary: 5 StarsEveryone has a secret fascination with living the life of a from-the-town fighter who has stood up to save humanity... Using anything you have around you...There's very few writers who could pull off such a serious and convincing book, when the content is based on such a "comic" subject. If you've got to the stage of considering buying this book, just buy it! It's so hard to explain what this body helps you connect with... It's a book of suggestions, it opens your mind, and if there is a globally Class 5 zombie outbreak, then you'll be sure as hell glad that you got this book.
Book Review: Re-evaluate your surroundings... Summary: 5 StarsJust to re-iterate the opinions stated above - this book is great. It's no-nonsense and matter-of-fact style leaves you in absolutely no doubt that zombies are a very real threat to humanity. It will also leave you evaluating your immediate surroundings for the best cover at short notice of an outbreak. Personally, my garage roof and loft is currently the first port of call although i quite fancy my chances at converting the local 'Lidl' into a zombie fortress. At no point does Max Brooks let his guard slip and it is because of this that the book succeeds. It truly is exactly as described: Your only true and complete protection from the living dead. Amusingly, having recently seen "Land of the Dead" and now reading this book, almost everything contained in it is reflected on the big screen. Just goes to show how very real these facts are...
Book Review: Survival Book of the Dead Summary: 5 StarsLike many others, Horror is my favourite Genre of not only films but books. The type of Horror I like is the idea of Zombies - the dead rising from the grave to wreak havoc and feasting on the flesh of the ignorant humans populating the earth - and soon the earth is theirs. Max Brooks aims to educate the reader with how to handle a Zombie pandemic and protect themselves from these blood curdling ghouls. The book itself states that ''it is a book that could save your life'' and it sets itself out to do so. The writer does not give any hints that any of this is 'make believe' and merely satirical which we know it is and gives the impression he is being 'deadly' serious and this is what makes this book so effective. From teaching us of the deadly virus Solanum to zombie attributes, to weapons and clothing and to zombie outbreaks in history- IT HAS THE LOT! This companion is a MUST for any self confessed Zombie lover or avid horror fan. Max Brooks has indeed created a MONSTER!
Book Review: Good start... Summary: 2 StarsThe book was very interesting at first, it highlights the basics of zombie behaviour, how to survive attacks etc. However after the first couple of chapters I noticed there was alot of padding and waffle. The author repeats himself over and over again in an attempt to make the book longer than 100 pages. Included in the book is also a handful of so-called 'true' incidents involving zombies which I later found (on further investigation) to be all made up. All in all not worth the money I spent on it, it went in the bin i'm afraid. Very disappointing effort.
