Book Review: A true gem among strength books

I love this book! Although the book is relatively thin, it is very thorough. The author delves into many, many things that can and will increase the effectiveness of your training. It focuses primarily on strength but it does also explain how to use many of the applications for gaining muscle mass as well. This book is crammed with information! It is not the usual rehash of what every other book says and it is definately NOT another fad book. Christian Thibaudeau backs up everything he has to teach you with research and leaves little room for doubt about the effectiveness of each method he explains. Some of the methods that were proven effective by the incredible Westside Barbell (ie. chains, bands, and weight-releasers)are covered in here also. I was astonished to see even a chapter on using EMS (electromyostimulation) for strength and athletic performance. This is a first class book from a first class coach and if you are looking for the best in information to absorb and add to your toolbox, as a lifter or a coach, you NEED this book. Some of it you may have heard of before, much of you probably haven't...at least not as clearly and in-depth as here, also you can be pretty sure that (at the time I am writing this) you will probably not find another book with all of this information in one place.

The chapters may appear to be somewhat plain to many of you...they are not! There are many subcategories within each chapter. (For example, a thorough explanation of the techniques used in manipulating the effects of concentric, eccentric, isometric, and Kinetic energy accumulation training is in the first chapter.)
The book is full of charts to clearly demonstrate how to use variations of the various topics (timing, percent of maxes, etc.) for specific results. Get this book and you will be glad you did. It's a real goldmine. Thanks goes out to Coach Thib for this masterpiece!
