Book Reviews of There's a Wocket in My Pocket! (Dr. Seuss's Book of Ridiculous Rhymes)

Book Review: A happy, fun book about silly friends living in your house
Summary: 5 Stars

I laughed when Amazon.com's review page inquired, "Have you read this book?" Quickly, I thought to myself, "Only about 7 or 8 times -- a day." This charming, sturdy book is bound to fascinate children with its lilting, rhyming phrases describing silly friends the reader, and listener, can discover throughout the house. Dr. Suess's signature silly words make babies and young toddlers giggle when they realize that the Wocket in their pocket not really a word at all, but a pretend word. Babies are quick to recognize which words are "real" words and which are for fun. The interplay of the two makes them smile. [And who does't love a baby's smile, especially after the third time through the book that morning.] For older toddlers, the quick read inspires creative thinking about the other characters who may live in your house, while providing a nice explanation or names for any "monsters" who may live in a closet or under the bed. There's a Wocket in my Pocket should be a staple in any young child's library, even if you have to hide for a day to regain your sanity.

Book Review: Colorful rhymes with colorful illustrations
Summary: 5 Stars

Dr. Suess is one of the greatest poets for kids. Some of his greatest books are "The Cat and the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham". All of his books has easy to read; the print is just as bold as the words and pictures in all of his books including this one"There's a Wocket in My Pocket". I have read all of the Dr. Suess books and they all make children want to learn to read, and have fun doing it. This book especially the great rhyme, almost sing-songy, helps children want to read along and follow the superb illustrations in the book too. The pictures look almost like hand-colored pencil drawings which makes it so fresh and lively for the children to want to read this book. I absolutely recommend this book along with all of the other Dr.Suess books; it's not only fun for the children it is also fun reading for the parents. Just about any age can really sit down and enjoy a Dr. Suess book like "There's a Wocket in My Pocket" just because it is pure fun to do so.

Book Review: But of Course, Another wublulous book from Dr. Seuss
Summary: 5 Stars

I would recommend this book to anyone with young children. It's another Dr. Seuss that definately encourages the joys of reading. The rhymes and words help the adults work on their anunciation as well. A great family read-aloud!

Book Review: AWESOME
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is perfect for any child's library. Through the humor of non-existing rhyming words the authour brings upon laughter and smiles to any child. This book is great for group classes in a school room or just for the individual parent/child.

Book Review: Kids get a kick out of the silly nonsense words
Summary: 3 Stars

Kids love the silly, made-up words in this book by Dr. Seuss. It is appropriate for the youngest listener because there is no story to follow, just pages of rhymes. As a parent asked to read it night after night, I'd recommend hiding it after a few days, or you will lose your mind. However, this book, and other Dr. Seuss books like it, are very useful for teaching the concept of rhyme. It also lets kids know that inventing characters and words is fun.
