Book Review: 100% Pure Snake Oil, Guaranteed!
Summary: 1 Stars

Please don't throw your money away.

This book could have been the prototype of the crass infomercial. Hill is the breathless huckster, and what he's selling is, in his own words, a "magic formula" to easy riches. Hill never made any money himself except by successfully tricking people into believing there was "something powerful" in this book that he won't name or describe. Emperor Hill is buck naked.

Apparently Hill could prove that he met Andrew Carnegie once. That meeting is the basis of the entire book. Hill says Carnegie's words were "magical" to him, but almost nothing else about their conversation. I think Hill took this one brief encounter and exaggerated it beyond imagination for a fast buck.

Hill makes many claims that he never corroborates. On page 5, Hill claims that "more than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known told the author (about) their greatest success." But Hill never says how he managed to meet all these important people, never says what they discussed, and in fact never even bothers to identify more than a couple of them. How convenient. I find Hill's claims here to be highly suspect.

On pages 18 and 19, we read the "magical" wisdom that Carnegie allegedly shared with Hill, that is absolutely central to the entire book, quoted verbatim: "If you truly desire money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to be so determined to have it that you convince yourself that you will have it. . . You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches in great quantities unless you work yourself into a white heat of desire for money, and actually believe you will possess it."

Is it just me or is that sentiment perverse and disgusting in the extreme?

Book Review: 2nd only to the Bible
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the most important book you will read, second only to the Bible (especially if you are male but females as well). Once a "guy" settles down and gets serious about making money the answer can be found here along with some haunting looks at the errors you made....

Book Review: A book that creates millionaires!!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you want to learn a subject who is better qualified to teach it, someone with no knowledge or someone who has the knowledge and has done it. Think and Grow Rich was written by a millionaire (Napolean Hill) who interviewed many millionaires of his time. These are the strategies that made the world's first billionaire and many millionaires from the 30's to the present.

Follow the advice and you will become rich.

Book Review: A Book No Library Should Be Without
Summary: 5 Stars

From the days of my youth, Dad had this book in his collection. It took me awhile to latch on but boy am I glad I did. I've watched this book change peoples' lives and bring them success (success is personal - success in whatever it is that you believe defines it). The title is not what it seems; a depiction of some get rich quick scheme, but a way of life. Read it. Read it over and over, and I guarantee you'll come away with a new cognition each time. Then, apply it. I highly recommend you buy this and keep it by your bedside along with the bible.

Book Review: A CLASSIC BOOK ON HOW TO SUCCEED
Summary: 5 Stars

This was first written over 60 years ago, I believe, so the manner of writing is a little different than modern books. If you can get past that (and most people of average intelligance can), then you will see the basics of how to succeed at any worthy goal.

The most important idea that I got out of this book (though it was not stated this way in the book), is this: IF YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO ACHIEVE IT.

One other rule that has been a big key for me in my own business, is GET STARTED NOW, EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE ALL THINGS COMPLETELY READY. It's too easy to procrastinate until things are "all ready."

When I started my current business I couldn't see how it could possibly work out. But then I just got started in my spare time, and all the impossibilities just started fading away, one by one, as I developed other ways to deal with problems that came up. Many problems are impossible to clear up without "hands-on" experience.

Sure, other books may be helpful in starting your own business or project, but don't overlook this one.
