Book Reviews of This Lullaby

Book Review: Amazing Book!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book only took me 2 days to read. It was a interesitng book that I couldn't put dowm. I would understand why she didn't want to let her self fall in love with Dexter. Even I have doubts about boys and relationships. Because if I were to go deep into the realtionships in the end I'll get hurt badly. At the end of the book I was glad that she and Dexter decided to make it work together that was a happy ending. Except her mom getting divorce. But we all can't get happy ending.

Book Review: Amazing work, Dessen!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was probably one of my all time favorites. I usually don't read a lot of fiction books, but this book was amazing. I'd highly recommend this great page-turner. Almost all the chapters ended with a secret of Remy's, so you wouldn't want to put the book down. You won't want to put the book down! This book is most enjoyable to teenagers because many of the things the characters are going through can relate to their life.

Book Review: Amazing, funny and we can relate to it.
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book! It really surprises me that is relates to me how much that it does. Remy is the main character and she reminds me alot of myself. Remy's mom just got remarried for the fifth time and in the end her husband ends up cheating on her. One of my favorite scenes is when Remy and her friends douse him with soda. There are a ton of very funny things and alot of things that we all can learn from. This book is just amazing.

Book Review: Amazing. Strong plot, strong characters!
Summary: 5 Stars

This Lullaby is about a girl named Remy who thinks she knows everything. She's got it all figured out, you know, this relationship stuff. She works with a timeline and she cycles through guys. She thinks her method is keeping her safe from heartbreak and with a mother like her's who's on her fifth marriage (after Remy's dad died who wrote and dedicated "This Lullaby" to her), can you really blame the girl? Her and her brother Chris use to be a team, they thought the same way about all this love-marriage-love crap but then he met his girlfriend and he started to change and Remy didn't like it (I think it was mentioned that she was named after the drink Remy Martin and I thought it was cool cause that's my favorite -- and only favorite -- drink lol).

While waiting for Don, her soon-to-be fifth step-father to discuss wedding plans she (literally) runs into Dexter. Who is everything she's not looking for in a boyfriend. But he's persistent (and I love persistence in my books) and eventually she warms up to him. Everything after that would be a spoiler :).

I love this book. If it wasn't obvious already. I love how strong the characters were, their personalities were strong and while you were reading Remy's mom's novel, it felt like Remy was in the room reading it with you. The plot was strong and it had a lot of unexpected turns. I didn't feel like there was enough scenes with Remy's mom, but I did love the times where there were scenes of her mom. I loved how adorable Dexter's character was. He wasn't perfect or swoon worthy but I loved how sweet he was to Remy all the time even when she obviously made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him. And it made me kind of mad how mean she was to him but I loved how he just kept coming back. I loved the panic in Remy as soon as she started to notice the change and I loved the girl talks between her and her friends.

If you haven't already read this book, I highly suggest you do!

Book Review: Awesome - This Lullaby
Summary: 5 Stars

This Lullaby, written by Sarah Dessen, is an outstanding book. I absolutely loved everything about it. It is a perfect book for a teenager to read. In This Lullaby, so many topics that teenagers in this day and age go through, i.e. sex, drugs, guys, love, college, parties, alcohol, best friends, parents, and summer.

Remy is the main character in this book. She is the kind of girl to always be in control of the relationship she is in, and always in control of her emotions. But when Dexter, a musician who, in the beginning, she cannot even tolerate to be in the same room as, comes flying through her window one morning, everything changes. She loses control of her emotions, and actually starts to let loose and be a human being. Remy is not just a cynical and facetious robot-like person anymore, but a fun girl who is lively and tolerable to be around. This change in personalities is great in so many ways, but could, in many ways hurt her future in college and life in general.

I really liked this book because I could relate to the main character really well. She was always on edge when she was dating a guy, and never wanted the relationship to get to serious. She had to be in control, and she had to be the one to give the trademark "Speech" to the now unfortunate guy. I really enjoyed reading about her life and experiences because she seemed like such a cool character and friend [in the story].

It seemed like everything in this book was in some way, something that I could relate to. I never got bored reading This Lullaby, and I would definitely recommend it to all of my friends.
