Book Reviews of This Lullaby

Book Review: Great writing but some character flaws
Summary: 3 Stars

First of all, I would like to say that this is my first Sarah Dessen book, and I am pretty impressed. She's just a great writer, and the way she writes things conjures up clear images in your head. Never vague, always entertaining. She is also very funny. On to the story....this was a good book with a familiar plot (girl likes boy, dumps boy, wants him back). My only problem is that Remy just didn't seem affectionate towards Dexter. Ever. You would never know she loved him, because in the scenarios where she was with him she seemed kind of cold. I would have liked to see a little more warmth, because as the reader I was not convinced at all. It was obvious Dexter loved her. She always talked about him, but she always blew him off, was rude to him. If you are going to have two people fall in love, at least have them act like it, right? Other than that, this was a really fantastic book.
Oh, and to the woman who recently criticized this book, you didn't have to buy it. You are not a teenager, you said it yourself, so don't buy a book for teenagers if you don't already expect some cursing and drinking.

Book Review: If you don't believe in love you have to read this book!
Summary: 4 Stars

After a slightly slow start this book completly captured me! Although this is not my favourite book from Dessen,it certainly comes close i actually completly fell in love with Dexter and i could feel the cemistry between Dexter and Remy! Dessen i feel builds her characters extremly well!
This book is about a girl named Remy who well doesn't really believe in love i mean who would when she watched her mother go through 4 marriages and is about to start on her 5th! In comes Dexter who slowly changes Remy's bad outlook on love. It truly is a magnificent story and defiently goes into my list of favourite books

Book Review: It was Awsome
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was one of my favorites, not to mention Sarah Dessen is a great author. It was a little funny but it also made me cry, and it has the best ending I've ever read.

Book Review: Just okay
Summary: 3 Stars

Since I have been into reading YA romance I thought I would pick up a Dessen book. I always hear how great her stories are so I had high hopes. Unfortunately this book fell a little flat for me. The story centers around Remy who, after seeing her Mom go through 5 marriages, has a jaded view of love and marriage. Remy goes from guy to guy and even has a set of rules and guidelines about every relationship and the inevitable break-up. This is where the story veered for me. Maybe I hung around the wrong girls as a teenager but the ones I knew never acted the way Remy did. Her actions were always so calculated and obsessive. I found it really strange that when Dessen introduces her brother's girlfriend she described her as being OCD, but when you read about Remy she is just as bad. I couldn't ever connect with this character. The title of the book is actually the name of a one hit wonder that her late father wrote for her. He died before she was born and this song is the only connection she has to him. Normally this would add a lot to a story but it just felt out of place. It seemed like Remy had closed the dad chapter in her life so I was a little puzzled as to why the song actually bothered her and why it kept coming up when it had nothing to do with the story basically. Oh and the whole Zip Diet Coke?? I thing Dessen should be getting an advertising fee from somebody because she mentions this particular drink about 50 times throughout the book. This again was not needed IMO. I guess I am just not a fan. I will try one more of her books in the hope that this one was just not for me.
