Book Review: The most important anthropology book in decades

I first learned of David Price's work on the cold war and American anthropology through his brilliant series in Anthropology Today a few years ago, and I have been eagerly awaiting this book ever since. Two days ago a friend from Oxford passed on an advance copy of Threatening Anthropology that has been making the rounds through anthropological channels, and I've done little more than read this exhaustive, ground breaking book since he passed it on to me. This is a captivating book that should be read by all who are interested in either the freedom of ideas, academic freedom, activism, or anthropology. Price is to be praised for taking on this massive project, and his exhaustive use of scholarly materials for this volume allows him to make important far reaching statements about past and present oppression. This book is destined to change how anthropology views itself.
