Book Review: The guys from Queens, NY eat Cuban!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
The Super-Bowl is this Sunday and what a menu we have. Cuban sandwiches, great chicken, and unbelievable pork. The three guys in Miami know how to feed 10 guys in Queens.
Book Review: Great Book for Third Generation Cuban-American Children Summary: 4 StarsI bought this book to give to my children, ages 28 and 31, to help them as they continually ask "how to make" various Cuban dishes. If you are a Cuban living outside of Miami, New Jersey, or New York City this is a great collection of standard Cuban fare that will encourage this and future generations to continue the search for "chorizos", dulce de guava, and the perfect recipe for flan. It is a must have for anyone wanting to experience Cuban cooking and delight in the afro-european combinations that set it apart from some of its Hispanic neighbors. Its simplicity and background information bring back memories and flavors that should not be forgotten.
Book Review: Cookbook Summary: 4 StarsAfter cooking some of the recipes I'd found on line, I decided to purchase the book because the dishes were such a hit. Little commentary by the cooks can be cute or annoying depending onn your viewpoint, but the recipes are delicious and easy. A fine addition to a varied cookbook collection.
Book Review: Naturally makes you look like a Pro Summary: 5 StarsI adore this cookbook! It's my favorite, hands-down, and I have quite a collection. The recipes are so user-friendly and the "conversational tidbits" in the margin are great - it feels as if the 3 guys are right in your kitchen talking to you. We picked 5 dishes for a "Cuban Fiesta" dinner party and my husband even made the tamales (first time!) - they rocked and our friends thought so, too. By way of their comments that night, we stood out as professional Cuban chefs. In fact, our friends still can't stop raving about the dinner - and that was over 9 months ago! I've already purchased a couple copies to give as gifts and highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Cuban cuisine ... and some friendly conversation.
