Book Reviews of Three Names of MeBook Review: Great Book for Appropriate Time Summary: 5 Stars
This book was very appropriate for our family. My daughter is 7 years old, and I adopted her from China when she was 10 months. She is very curious about her origins, including her birth mom. This book directly addresses the fact that in addition to a Chinese name and, in many cases, a newly given name when adopted, you also have a third name which was "whispered" by your birth mom. So my only caveat would be to read this book before reading it with your child to be sure that you are both ready to deal with the questions and emotions that are surely to follow.
Book Review: I Love This Book! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know what I like better: the story or the illustrations. Both are soft, realistic, and this fabulous mix of the sweet-sad that comes with being adopted. Ada( who must be 7 or 8) writes the story and asks at the end " Have you ever made a scrapbook about you?"
A perfect segway into a lifebook. And you know how much I like lifebooks. :)

Book Review: Like a work of art... Summary: 5 Stars
This book is lyrical in its beauty - telling the story of a young Chinese adoptee in powerful but spare words and beautiful artwork. Might be best for the 9 and up group - my eight-year-old is not emotionally mature enough for this book yet, but I can tell it will be important later on.
Book Review: Review from Books That Heal Kids Summary: 5 Stars
Even though I was adopted here in the United States. I wish there had been a book like this when I was younger because I probably would have read it a hundred times. As a child, I remember my mom telling me the story about how they adopted me and all the little details of how we became a family. I hung onto her every word! Those stories are an important part of healing our self-identity and a helpful way to embrace adoption. Three Names of Me is written to perfection. I always tried to relate to the children in the books when I was a little girl. Ada is someone I would have felt connected to because of her story and the wording used. It's doesn't matter that we were adopted from different countries - we share the same experience and feelings. I highly recommend this gem.
Book Review: Three Names of Me Summary: 5 Stars
This book was fabulous for my third grade daughter who is adopted from China. She has never really connected with other adoption books, but this one seemed to really speak to her personally. We have had some great dialog about her feelings of being in a mixed race family as a result of this book. My daughter loves this book so much she has it memorized and used it for a special story telling project at school! This book has been instrumental in helping my daughter process her own adoption. I would highly recommend it for elementary school aged girls adopted from China.
