Gentle words and sweet drawings of little animal parents caring for their darlings have made this book a nightstand favorite in many, many homes and in ours as well. This book is so well suited for bedtime that all I can add to the other 79 persons who praised it (4 or more stars) is that Fox and Dyer are geniuses.

Book Review: A Wonderful Bedtime Story!

I have been reading this book to my daughter almost nightly since she received it as a gift at 5 months. It has become our absolute favorite bedtime story. At bedtime, we snuggle together just like the mommies and babies in the illustrations. Looking at the beautiful pictures and hearing the lovely words of this story soothes my baby, and soon, she is ready for sleep. My son loves this book!!!! I began reading it to him when he was almost a year old. He is almost two now, and when we tell him to go and get his "night night book" he runs to get this one. I keep it in his crib, and I have often found him fast asleep with this book open and his face turned toward it. I Love this book, and so do all 4 of my kids. It is such a gorgeous, intimate bed time book. They love the different things that the mother animals say to their babies and they know it is a book with which to settle down and get ready to sleep. The illustrations are beautiful, and the language is fantastic for very young children who can soon repeat along with you.
