Book Reviews of Time for Bed

Book Review: A soothing book
Summary: 5 Stars

Whenever my 8 month old daughter is a little crankie, all I have to say to her is "It's time for bed little mouse little mouse" and she calms right down. As I rock her to sleep each night I recite the book to her. Puts her out every time. I can't wait until she understands what the words and pictures mean.

Book Review: A sure fire way to put my daughter to sleep!
Summary: 5 Stars

Beautiful pictures - large and colorful enough for a small baby to appreciate. The prose is very rythmic/ "sing songy" and repetitive - my daughter loves this book and almost always fall asleep while I read it to her!

Book Review: A terrific book for winding down at bedtime!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is one of our daughter's favorites. She enjoys the rhymes and pointing out the animal babies who don't want to go to sleep. When she was going through a sleep-resistant stage, declaring "I am going to stay up aaallll night!", this book helped us to show her that every living creature has to rest sometime. Gorgeous illustrations. Makes a wonderful baby shower or new baby gift!

Book Review: A true bedtime story
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great book that I would recommend to all for those quite moments just before sleep. This gentle story leads you through an array of animals as they settle down for the night. I find the pictures great and the gentle rhythm of the book a delight. I could not as more of a bedtime story.

Book Review: A wonderful goodnight story for toddlers.
Summary: 4 Stars

I chose this book as a bedtime story for my daughter who is 20 months. Jane Dyer, a favorite illustrator, doesn't disappoint. In each illustration, an animal mother is tucking her baby into bed with a simple rhyme. The close-up of the bee is a favorite; I also like how some other unusual animals are included such as snake and fish. My only quibble with the text is that sometimes it's "little sheep" or "little deer" and sometimes it's "little calf" or "little foal". Switching back and forth from the proper name of the baby animal makes it hard for an older child, who knows her animals, to try to read along. For the illustrations alone, get this book. And I would love someone to put out a series of these illustrations framed for use in the nursery. They are truly marvelous.
