I read this book to my daughter many nights from the night she was born until she was old enough for chapter books. She loved the cadence of the rhymes and would repeat them along with me as she got older. Now my oldest step-daughter is having her first baby so this is one of the books we got her - we hope it will be a favorite in her house as well!Book Review: Delightful.

This book doesn't really have a plot, but shows various mother animals putting their babies to bed. The book's words are written in rhyming couplets which provide a soothing rhythm that enhances an atmosphere of peace. The illustrations of the various animals (and people) are beautiful and add to the comforting tone of the book. Really young children love this book and it is a book that one doesn't tire of reading.Book Review: Destined to be a classic

I belong to a local reading council made up of several teachers and librarians and one of the service projects that we participate in involves giving a book to all newborn babies in our community, along with some literature about how important it is to read to your child. When it came time to choose a book for this project Mem Fox's "Time for Bed" was our choice. The words are a perfect bedtime lullaby and the illustrations are absolutely beautiful! I think this story is destined to be a classic bedtime story and I hope it is read for generations to come!Book Review: Different animals make for lots of favorites

I like reading this to my 15 month old. We've had it for a few months and read it for bedtime. He originally really liked the snakes, then the cows, then the dogs, and now the fish. It's a simple, cute little book.
