Book Review: A MUST-READ book - Don't judge it by the movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've never read a Michael Crichton book before, but am an avid ER fan (the TV show he writes for) and heard some good personal reviews of his books by a friend of mine, so I searched at the library for one of his books to try. This book was a fantastic first pick!!! I have interests in scifi, knights and castles, adventure and romance. This book does a tremendous job of combining it all and is incredibly difficult to put down. It involves a description of quantum physics which I have never seriously contemplated, however it got me curious enough to do some of my own investigation of the topic - just enough to understand a little more. Even if you don't understand this science, it's not critical to enjoying and following the plot. I read the book this fall and was unaware that the movie was coming out until I saw the previews on TV. I got so excited and couldn't wait to go see it. Unfortunately, they did a poor job. The first couple of minutes zipped by so fast that it was hard to pick up what was going on at first. I was trying to figure out what part of the movie was which part in the book. I eventually gave that up and just watched it as a different story. Then I enjoyed a little more. So much of the story was cut out and other parts changed. One good thing I can say about the movie - I think they did a good job of picking the actors. Most of them looked as I imagined them. All I can say is you've got to read the book. It is so much better!!!! I love to read and have only read maybe two books twice in my lifetime (I'm 39 years old). Because there are so many books I want to read I don't feel there is time to read something twice. Having said that - TIMELINE is one of those exceptional books that I will read again!!

Book Review: A Medieval Encounter
Summary: 3 Stars

Michael Crichton's novel is like most novels and it starts with a steady build up. Character outlines, hints, clues are all given at the beginning. These just help build up the suspence about to come. After a long and a bit boring briefing, the group take a journey through time.

They land in a world filled with knights, clergy and lowly peasants. Crichton describes the setting in a very detailed manner. The description of some living conditions in the 1300's is very disturbing. Also, the scarest part of the book, the Black Plague. The vial description of the early stages of the Black Plague can turn your stomach.

Crichton's array of round characters helps you get into the novel and make you care about what happens. He describes physical and mental traits about the characters that help you figure out what each character is like. This helps you see the progressive change of certain characters.

Now here is the science part, quantum physics. Now if your worried that it takes up the whole book, don't. This is used to describe how the time machine is made. A quick background on why quantum physics was used an your back to the story.

If your in the mood for a good time travel book with a lot of action check out Timeline.

Book Review: A Michael Masterpiece!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yet another Michael Crichton 'masterpiece'. After reading my first Michael Crichton book, Jurassic Park, I was stunned by the action...until I came across TIMELINE! Despite dinosaurs being my favourite subject, Timeline makes Jurassic Park look rather simple.

Book Review: A Must Read
Summary: 5 Stars

Timeline is an awesome book. Truly portraying the Medieval times as they really were. It includes all the excitement from the Jarassic books and all the fighting, blood and grime. It's not a sissy book of sunshine and flowers and will open a new door to the imagination.

Book Review: A Must Read!
Summary: 5 Stars

Michael Crichton's TIMELINE, is a beutifully written combination of the mid 14th century, in feudal France, and our present day and age, in France as well as New Mexico. In the story, Four modern day hisorians, all between the ages of 20 and 30, prepare to go back in time trying to rescue a friend who is trapped there. They have 37 short hours to get him and return to their own time, or they too will be trapped, forever. While they race against the clock in the past, their friends try frantically to find other ways to get them back in the present. With everything from gripping brushes with death, to the history of quantum technology, to the very origin of tennis, this novel is everything any reader could ask for. Mr. Chrichton has definitely outdone himself this time, because TIMELINE is a must-read!!!
