Book Reviews of Tony Soprano on Management: Leadership Lessons Inspired by America's Favorite Mobster

Book Review: When Tony Talks... Leaders Listen
Summary: 5 Stars

Tony Soprano is a great boss. He is a great motivator, time manager, delegator. He's decisive, inspiring and, yeah, tough. This book has examples from the show that explain this new style of management. But there are also worksheets and case studies, so you can really start putting it to work in a practical, hands-on way. So, if you want to be as effective a boss as Tony, while avoiding his pitfalls, this book is for you.

Book Review: US News, Toronto Globe & Mail
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book because I read articles the author wrote (on related subjects) in US News and the Toronto Globe & Mail. Like the articles, the book cuts through the crap and delivers the goods, while being fun to read. I'm using this book to help develop my team skills at work, communicate better and it's helped me in two negotiations so far. Tony Soprano may not be the nicest guy around, but I gotta say, he's a great management coach.

Book Review: funny, inventive, and very helpful
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book because I love the show and also felt I needed to fine tune my management skills. It turned out to be delightful and extremely informative. Not only did I learn a little more about managing, I learned much more about effective communication. If you are a Sopranos fan or even a casual viewer, this book will thoroughly entertain you as well as teach you a thing or two.

Book Review: "Tony Soprano" is a must.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book after I saw the author on Paula Zahn. You could tell he knew what he was doing. His book sounded good, and its better than good. I think that it is terrific---well conceived and very well written. It is insightful, crisp and a very easy read. It should be a must for every MBA course. Its right on for all new young CEOS, and I am sure that a lot of entrenched CEOs could also benefit from it. Besides, its a lot of fun.

Book Review: Not Your Stereotypical Management Book.
Summary: 5 Stars

I very much enjoyed `Tony Soprano on Management.' It is very refreshing to see someone turn back the tide of fuzzy, unstructured organizational ideas, and reaffirm that there is no substitute for top-down, clear lines of leadership. Anthony Schneider has debunked some of the nonsense which was being bandied about during the years of the dot-com boom. Technology does not change human nature. My absolute favorite line is:
"So, Tony Soprano on Management focuses on strategies, tools and tactics that have a more universal appeal and won't result in unexplained deaths or prison sentences". Wonderful.
