Book Reviews of Tony Soprano on Management: Leadership Lessons Inspired by America's Favorite MobsterBook Review: Disappointing Copycat Summary: 1 StarsOnce a concept takes off, others jump on the bandstand. The idea of using fictional characters to give leadership advice is not new. This author tries to use the actions of mob boss Tony Soprano to teach management. Unfortunately he falls very short. His examples ring stale and reworked. As a management practioner, there is no way I'd use what he has to say. He misses the mark by a mile. Save your time and money. It has already been done much better.
Book Review: Wow! A Business Book That Is Bound To Work Summary: 5 StarsTONY SOPRANO ON MANAGEMENT is wonderful! It's cheeky, witty, wise and thoughtful. Drawing on a popular cultural icon, someone everyone knows even if they've been living under a rock, this book details how to be the most effective manager you can be. And Schneider dosen't just focus on Tony as a manager, he devotes part of his book to talking about the ultimate manager, Carmella - the queen of "managing-up". Even if businees books aren't your normal literary fare, this one is worth the read!
Book Review: Leadership, Management, and flat out good writing. Summary: 5 StarsAnthony Schneider has given the world a new and important way to approach leadership. This book has everything, insight, humor, a deft eye toward pop culture and the wisdom it can lend, but most of all, the book keeps us reading and keeps us laughing, all due to Schneider's skill as a writer. This book is a must.
Book Review: a management guide with a sense of humor Summary: 5 StarsAt last - a leadership book that really delivers. It's hip, slick, funny, easy-to-read, but really clever, and full of helpful insights. It made me wish that the small staff that I manage had more problems, I was so keen to adopt the Soprano style. Or maybe it's the Schneider style? His mantra - "self-knowledge leads to vision" has gotten me thinking deeply, and has led to some interesting self revelations.
Book Review: this book is great Summary: 5 StarsI found Tony Soprano on Management to be extremely relevant and entertaining. It offers all sorts of unorthodox, yet effective ways to deal with situations. It's very informative and funny too. Two thumbs up!
