Book Review: A must for any Stern show fan
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been listening to the Stern show for many years and have always enjoyed having Artie on the show. He's always been a mystery, but this book definitely reveals a lot about the man behind the brilliant wisecracks.

My feelings while reading this book ranged from compassion when he spoke of his love for his family (especially his Dad), to revulsion as he described in vivid detail one drug-related meltdown after another. It's just stunning to me how self-destructive he has been, and even more amazing that he lived through some of those episodes.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it gets a bit annoying with all of the apologies to everyone he has wronged in some way (and the list is pretty long!), but it's obvious that he used this book as a way to reach out to some of those long-lost former friends and colleagues.

All in all, a must read for any fan of the Stern show.

Book Review: A must read for any Artie or Howard fan!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's really quite simple to review this book in a single word "Revealing". When you hear Artie on the Stern show you immediately recognize his quick wit and hilarious commentary that he brings to the show. People feel two ways about Artie - disgusted or sympathetic, there is NO middle ground. This book provides an insight to what is behind this man. Yes, he comes off as rough or brash or harsh - but that is his schtick. Artie is probably one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. No, I have never met the man, but you can read into his persona and realize he is a decent and caring guy who just happened to fall into some really bad habits. The book will explain how he evolved and will give you a better understanding of what Artie is all about.

I absolutely loved the book - it will not win a Pulitzer and Artie will not be a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, but he is quite an endearing person - and that is what is really important.

Enjoy the book...

Mike

Book Review: A quick read about a complex guy
Summary: 3 Stars

This book gives all the dirty details about the life of a very funny guy. While reading it you feel as though you could be reading the John Beluschi Story or a biography of Chris Farley. Hopefully this one will end better. Artie tells it like it is and at times you feel like you need a bath. Overall I thought it was a pretty good book and worth reading (particulalry if you are a Stern/Artie fan). As you would expect, Artie tells a good story and you get a good feel for him as a person.

Book Review: A real book! True Life! Cry, Laugh, Cry, Laugh, Feel it!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the best Autobiography type books on a person i have ever read. So much emotion. One second your laughing so hard you've just pissed yourself and 5 pages later your crying like a baby!

What a wonderful experience! Buy It. Enjoy it. Love it. Its an amazing book that chronicals the events of one Fat Funny Man. Artie Lange!

If I had the option to give this book 10 stars I would. To be honest i give very tough reviews.

Book Review: A touching and funny read
Summary: 5 Stars

Artie becomes more human and less of a character on The Howard Stern show with this book. His early memories of his childhood are touching and it's easy to connect with the pain he's running from throughout the rest of his story.

Artie is a great storyteller and this book is an easy read. I laughed out loud a lot, and found myself marvelling that this guy is still alive given all he's been through.

With lots of entertaining Hollywood stories, this book is a great gift for any Howard Stern Show fan, anyone struggling with an addiction, anyone who enjoys a good rags to riches story, or just anyone who likes a good book in general.
