When Artie was a kid he did drugs and drank and screwed up his life. Likewise for when he worked on the docks; drove a cab; broke into stand-up; got a job with MAD-TV; made some movies; and most recently got a job on Howard Stern's radio show. There I've saved you some money. There is nothing but self pity and a recitation of the same self inflicted destructive cycle over and over. There is not a funny line in the book. Also he spent a week in Afghanistan (good for him, seriously) and proceeds to make it sound like hitting the beach at Tarawa.Book Review: Audible PAIN!

I have been a Stern fan for about 20 Years. Listen to him every day during my 1 hour commute to work. I am a fan of Arty too. I figured it would be a great idea to buy Arty's Book on CD's for this trip during the Stern show holiday vacation.
My opininion?.....Firstly, you have to get passed the HORRIBLE Narators for the book. It is so painful to listen to you are resisting yourself to not turn it off. The simple fact of having to continue, similar to not beeing able to look away from a car reck, brings you through Arty's pathetic stories. Secondly, it is his unbelievable honesty that got me to the end of the CDs. Much of the stories have been played on Stern and are entertaining. Story after story it gets very monotonous and depressing. Knowing what I know now, find someone that has listened to the cd's and borrow from them. Dont waste your money! Its your high expectation that is enticing you to purchase the book/cds. Resist the urge, you will be disapointed if you spend the money.

Artie Lange proves he really has had an interesting life up to this point; his stories are poignant and funny - I found myself laughing out loud often. At the same time, I needed to pull out the tissues a couple of times. Read this book, and get an intimate look at his life so far. You'll be glad you did.Book Review: Awesome service!
