Book Review: Pleasantly surprised!

This is the first Tori Amos piano book that stays faithful to the original piano part!
There is no hint of the vocal melody in the right hand part; the written piano part is exactly what you can hear Tori play on the album. Some may find this a bit annoying when it comes to parts of the album where the piano isn't the primary instrument, such as the chorus of "Body and Soul". But it's BRILLIANT for all the other songs, such as "Mr. Bad Man", "Programmable Soda", "Yo George" and "Dragon".
There is no hint of simplification either, apart from "Beauty of Speed" perhaps. I think Tori originally uses both hands to play the pretty motif, whereas in the book they've combined both parts into the right hand part. But it still sounds lovely, so it's only a minor complaint.
Some of the tracks that have no piano, such as "Devils and Gods", have been given a new piano part, and they're also great. Devils and Gods actually sounds better on solo piano, in my opinion.
Another great feature of this book is the fact that at the beginning, the dolls' panels from the CD inlay is featured. Just lovely.
