Book Review: Lifting the Lid on Life with a Flawed Genius

Having long been a fan of Joy Division I found this book both compelling and disturbing. Focusing mainly on the authors marriage to the Manic Depressive Epeleptic Genius that was Ian Curtis. Showing how from an early age he was obsessive about those whom entered an early grave. This book left me with a sense of sorrow toward Deborah Curtis whom suffered much from her husbands moods, the same moods that touched a generation of post punk alienated youth. I have read many biographies and autobiographies from this fascinating era in our musical heritage but only The Last Gang in Town ( biography of The Clash) has opened my eyes to the imperfections of my heroes as has this magnificently honest book. If you are a student of the times of Punk then this book is a must.
