Book Reviews of TrainspottingBook Review: A serious crack in the teeth! Summary: 5 Stars
This intense novel really hits hard and exposes us to the fact that it's so important to maximize the one life that we have. Mr. Welsh really wants us to know that we must choose responsibility, work, the right friends, growing up, and not to let life pass us by or we will be forever "trainspotting".
Book Review: A solid primer in modern Scottish vernacular... Summary: 4 Stars
Although it took me about 30 pages to get the hang of the language, I found Trainspotting to be a intriguing balance of crass humor and sub-cultural commentary, with the occasional note of revelation.
Book Review: A teenagers look: Summary: 5 Stars
TRAINSPOTTING: The controversial, humorus and inter-twined tale that perswades a demensional approach and a debut talent of British writing. The extended, confusing and astonishing character of Mark Renton delivers the emotion and shadowed struggle through a heroin addiction. With 6 lives in jeopardy, the reader learns and experiences an unforgettable story with the detangled answers to life's dead ends.
Book Review: A truly gripping novel Summary: 5 Stars
I am not an avid reader, or at least I was not until I read this book. The style in which Welsh writes is fresh and interesting, and the settings and plot come alive. I often want to go back and read this again to see what the characters are up to these days, because I think that even though I'm done reading they are still carrying on without me. That is how vivid this book is; that is how immersed you will become in this novel. Highly recommended.
Book Review: A wild ride, sentimental and violent. Summary: 5 Stars
My title sums this up. I found this to be one of the best books I've read in months. The characters are flawed, but likable, for the most part, and the ending is superb. It's relatively nonchronological, something that I kind of liked.
I highly recommend.
