Book Review: Don't wait
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had severe back pain my entire life. I've had several MRIs CAT scans, I have several herniated discs in my lumbar region. I was given the book a few years ago as a gift but I never really followed the exercises like the book explained and stopped all together about 2 years ago. That was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done. For the last 2 years I've been in horrible pain, doing physical therapy, getting cortisone, taking advil almost daily or hydrocodone and muscle relaxers when my back went out completely. Well I just found the book again a few days ago and resolved to follow it to the letter. Within 2 days I went from a 6-8 level of daily pain to 0-1. I'm so disappointed I didn't stick with this years ago. I'm about a week into the stretches and posture techniques and it's totally changed my life. I hope this helps someone who is looking for back relief. Considering I've spent thousands of dollars of treatments, work missed and dealt with constant pain for over 20 years, I think no matter what it's worth trying for the $8-9. Good luck with your back pain, I hope it helps you to!

Book Review: Excellent

I have not yet read this book, so I can't write a review about it.

Book Review: Fantastic!
Summary: 5 Stars

A couple of years ago I suffered a back injury caused by the classic bend at the waist whilst putting something down. The pain was severe and I had to go to ER where a smiling doctor welcomed me to middle age and injected me with pain killers and muscle relaxants. Recovery was fairly slow however a few weeks of physio eventually got me back on my feet.

Since then the pain has returned on occasion with varying degrees of severity but normally subsides after a week or so. General stiffness however was constant. More recently the pain returned accompanied by sciatica for the first time. This was much worse whilst seated and having a daily commute to work by train and a job that mostly requires me to be seated, this was a worrying development. I continued with my usual stretching exercises and searched the web for other cures - massage seats etc. I even considered a chiropractor and acupuncture for the first time. I also noticed Robin Mckenzies little book and at $10 and with such good reviews it seemed like a no brainer. When it arrived I quickly glanced through it and was a bit disappointed when it seemed like most of the exercises were the same as the ones I was already doing. The next day I read half on the way to work and was encouraged when my exact symptoms were described and that the method should help. On the way back from work I looked in detail at the exercises which were subtly different to the ones I had being doing. I also learned that the order in which the exercises are performed is also very important.

That evening I tried them and noticed some reduction in the sciatic pain almost immediately. I repeated the exercises before I went to bed and was amazed when the pain centralized just as described in the book. I didn't sleep well that night as the centralized pain was more constant whilst lying down unlike the sciatica however I was encouraged as the book described the pain centralization as a major step to recovery. The next morning I repeated the exercises again. After standing up the pain became more sharp and stabbing and as I got to the bathroom it was severe enough for me to have to lie face down on the floor (the first aid position as described in the book). After a few seconds I started to move expecting the sudden stab of pain usually associated with such movements. However the pain never came. In fact the pain had gone altogether. Nothing at all. I continued my morning routine expecting some pain to come back but it didn't. On the train - no pain. At work - no pain. In fact no pain since that day.

I'm not saying that my results are typical and that recovery is normally this fast but Mr Mckenzies book has changed the quality of my life hugely for the better at virtually no cost. I now perform these simple exercises 4 or 5 times a day and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. As with many of the other reviews I have no affiliation to the Mckenzie Institute - I'm just an (ex) back pain sufferer wanting to share my experience. I do however hope that Robin Mckenzie is a very happy and wealthy man!!!

Book Review: Generalized title problem. But good
Summary: 4 Stars

While this may teach truly excellent practices and have solutions, BE FOREWARNED; this book basically focuses on the LOWER back. Exercises are for the LOWER back. There is mention about how to position one's neck with pillows and such. But if you have troubles with your middle back, then..... well...
This book could be titled, "How to Treat Your LOWER Back". Practical, multi-edition book for LOWER back.
