Book Reviews of True Evil: A NovelBook Review: A Must Read!! Summary: 5 Stars
This was by far one of the BEST books I've ever read.
I read a lot of urban fiction but periodically I stray and read a pyschological
thriller.
I couldn't put the book down. I loved Agent Morse's tenacity and she was my favorite character. I also loved the "Mad Scientist" kind of theory.
Past the middle the book was like a roller coaster ride. I enjoyed every turn, bump & cliff of the book.
Just Awesome!
You have to read!

Book Review: A New Author For Me To Hunt All Their Books Down!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, this was an incredible book. It was a powerful, mind blowing read, one that I couldn't stop thinking about after I finished the nicely sized, 600 something page book in a day and a half. Greg Isles...you caused me to miss my son's school bus by staying up past 3 a.m. reading this very hard to put down tour de force masterpiece and oversleeping!
But I am very happy that I bought this book one day, not finding anything from my usual favorite authors in a Rite Aid Pharmacy. I basically was attracted to the metallic eye catching blue cover, never having read this author before, I ended up letting it sit for a few weeks on my nightstand as a dust collecter. I am very glad I decided to try this one out.
I love finding new authors that really engage me, and Greg Isles is a skilled writer, who will hook you if you've never read him before, I have no doubt. I love authors from Jodi Picoult to Dan Brown to Sandra Brown to Stephen White, I have a very wide range of favorite authors. He is by far the best thriller writer i've come across, and every time I find a great new author, I go out and buy like 4-6 of their books right away, take some out at the library, and then buy the rest that are out there shortly after.
So thank you, for giving me a whole new batch of books I can't wait to get into and escape reality with.
To me it doesn't matter if he's trying to attract more readers. If YOU were an author, that would be your main goal too, no? And he SHOULD be glad he did write that way. I will go out and buy all his books, and that is what he most likely would approve of. For many readers to thoroughly enjoy his novels, and feel completely and totally satisfied, and like they had one heck of a ride.
He's got that nailed, hands down. A very suspenseful, crazy, emotional, thought provoking, scary book. I loved it to no end.
Book Review: A fascinating premise, but overlong Summary: 3 Stars
Greg Iles has created an interesting killer in this book: the guy kills people in order to prevent their fleecing spouses who are about to be divorced. Our heroine, Alex, is an FBI agent, a hostage negotiator who's almost written off her whole career with obsessions and questionable decisions. Now she's got one last shot at redemption, if only she can figure out how the guy's getting away with it. When she figures out that the guy's next victim is a doctor, she approaches the man to try and warn him before things get further out of hand. The doctor, of course, had no idea that his wife was contemplating divorce, and is at first skeptical. As the book moves along, however, he becomes more convinced, and eventually decides the FBI agent isn't crazy after all.
This is an interesting idea for a plot, especially for a killer, but the premise takes a long time to develop. The story is long, and there are distractions. Alex is convinced that her sister was one of the killer's victims; she maintains a relationship with her nephew, which takes up time. Chris, the doctor, has a friend who's an FBI agent, and a long list of colleagues, each of whom we're told about at some length. The result is a 600 page suspense novel, which doesn't quite manage to hold up the suspense for the length.
This isn't a bad book: it's just not my taste exactly. 600 pages seems a lot for a suspense novel. I've seen it work before; actually, I seem to remember a book by this author that was (if memory serves right) even longer. If you're on a beach somewhere, you could do worse than this book.
Book Review: A new favorite Summary: 5 Stars
This is definitely one of my favorite reads in a long time. The plot was interesting the entire time. The plot was clever and there was enough medical detail to keep up with it all, but not too much to make your brain hurt! Perfect combo for me!
Book Review: Almost perfect Summary: 4 Stars
As most folks have written, this is one of Iles' best. He has created a villain in Dr. Tarver rivaled only by Hannibal Lecter. I was also one who could not put this book down. The fast pace and plot twists just keep coming. The climactic ending had a great buildup but I just thought the finale was a little too abrupt. I'll leave it at that.
