Book Reviews of True Evil: A NovelBook Review: Excellent suspense .. but .. Summary: 4 Stars
This is the first book I have read by this author - and I've already purchased more of his work. It was very suspenseful - I cared about the characters and the outcome. But ... the copy I purchased had a problem ... about 40 pages were missing from the final third of the book. So I'm reading this great book .. and suddenly I'm re-reading page 72?? And sure enough the book has pages 72-110 inserted (in place of the "real pages") in the final 100 or so pages of the book. So I missed about 40 pages ... although did get to read the actual ending of the book. Wonder what happened in those missing 40 or so pages though ..
Book Review: Fast & Fun with odd flaws Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased a copy in the airport for a trip to Europe. I plowed through the whole book in a few days. It's good and thrilling if not particularly surprising. The bad guys die while the good guys live and find romance.
Iles has an odd habit of writing some passages as though he is getting product placement revenue. It's very odd when he does this and breaks the spell for me. One scene has a character turning on his dual core Macintosh G5 to download hi-def video from his Canon XLR2. Oh, and everyone appears to drink Coca-Cola. There is no Pepsi in Iles world.
...no Pepsi...no Pepsi at all...
Book Review: From someone who does not "read"--AWESOME and Edge of your seat! Summary: 5 Stars
I must say I do not pickup many books for enjoyment but Greg Iles has brought me back to reading as enjoyment!! Spandau was an awesome read when I read it many years ago. I recently found Greg again a couple years ago when I picked up TRUE EVIL. I literally could not put this book down; while on vacation. It came everywhere with me. And as I said before, I do not usually read for enjoyment. Can't say enough about how Greg pieces things together and surprises the heck out of you at every turn.
Book Review: Good book Summary: 3 Stars
Though this is not the best from Greg Iles, its a good read. By reading the first few chapters I kept feeling shortchanged but it got better. Shipment was quick and I love the fact that Amazon kept me updated on my shipment.
Book Review: Good but not great! Summary: 4 Stars
This book is not initially as intense as Greg Iles' other offerings and one is tempted to move on, but with a little perserverence you will enjoy this book. Our heroine is a bundle of neuroses but after a while you will soon be empathizing, sympathizing, and cheering for her!
