Book Reviews of True Evil: A NovelBook Review: Iles creates another masterpiece! Summary: 5 Stars
As I have said in other reviews, Greg Iles is simply the best author of mystery thrillers around today. In this book, he creates some extremely interesting characters in a female FBI agent who is in trouble with her agency at a time when her sister is dying and is certain her husband has killed her. There is a tremendous mixture in this book of medical material, legal wrangling, pure deceit and greed. Add a dash of altruism and seeds of evil from some of the best grafted characters you will read in a long time and you have a very entertaining book. But it is more in that it is thought provoking and chilling. Not as striking as Blood Memory, but very, very good. Take up Iles and you will search for more of his work in every book store you visit.
Book Review: Iles is My Favorite Author Summary: 4 Stars
I hold Iles in such high regard that I'm surprised to find myself only rating a story with such a fascinating premise only four stars. While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and found the plot to be chilling, to stay the least, for the first time ever I was ready for an Iles story to end.
About midway through the book, I tired of Alexander Morse. And, towards the end, I began tiring of Tarver as well. The other characters, expecially Rusk and Kaiser, were first rate.
It's a tribute to Iles' skill as a master storyteller, one who can and has written about a wide array of complex topics, that he can still put out a quality story when two of the major characters fail to satisfy in the end.
Character deficiencies aside, one of the goals of True Evil was to unsettle the reader and give him something to think about. On those aspects, the book certainly delivers.
Book Review: Impressive Author Summary: 4 Stars
This is the second of Iles' novels that I read, the first being The Quiet Game, which set the standard high. While I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as The Quiet Game I cannot deny that it's a great story. It seemed as though it took awhile for the tension to build but once it did, it didn't let off until the end. And one has to appreciate the amount of research that the author must have invested to tell such a detailed and gripping medical accounts.
I think it safe to say that anyone who enjoys reading fiction will appreciate this novel.
Book Review: Incredible ... Needs 6 or 7 stars !!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am very partcular when it comes to thrillers and mysteries. I don't like my time wasted on ho-hum plots. THIS ONE KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF !!! I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in 2 days. When the FBI agent was being reprimanded by her bosses and almost fired I had to keep reminding myself it was only fiction. I had to take a Pepsid because I had heartburn so badly. I felt like she was a member of my family getting unjustly accused. I have told at least 10 people to buy this book. Iles is a master-story teller.
Book Review: Just read it Summary: 5 Stars
Did you like Blood Memory? I thought so. This is better. Read this and let the ride begin. Nuff said. Enjoy
