Book Reviews of True WomenBook Review: These True Women are Strong Women Summary: 5 StarsI was so entranced by the stories and characters in this novel that I cried as I began to reach the last page. I simply did not want the experience of reading it to end.
Book Review: Family History Summary: 5 StarsThis book is very accurate and holds the interest of everyone I know that has read the book and/or seen the movie. From the Indian Raids to the Santa Anna and on and on. IT really shows how strong women were and makes me proud to be a member of the Lawshe family. In actuality, I am a member of the Lawshe family. We have done research and found that my father's father was named William Lewis Glenn whose mother was Rebecca Lawshe. William was born in Georgia and they moved to San Marco, Texas; from there our famliy moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma. We are still looking for the Lawshe's, Woods, and Kings. If you read this and are a member of our family please contact me at my e-mail address. We also have a Glenn Family reunion coming up on August 11, 12 and 13. Lots of Oklahoma and Texas folk will be there. Come on down.
Book Review: Very talented writer! Great story! Summary: 5 StarsWhat a wonderful novel! How delightful to look inside the cover and see these photos that you look at again and again as the story evolves. What a poignant story of these families. I thought it very exciting and well written. Lovely book!
Book Review: TRUELY GREAT WOMEN! Summary: 5 StarsTHIS BOOK GIVES ONE A SENSE OF ACTUALLY BEING THERE WHEN THE WAGONS WITH WOMEN AND CHILDREN,TRAVEL TO ESCAPE SANTA ANNA, THE DEFENSE OF THE HOMES BY WOMEN, WHOSE MEN WERE OFTEN GONE. THE ARROW IN THE LEG OF SARAH ASHBY MCCLURE AND THE ARROW BEING REMOVED BY TARANTUALA, ONE OF THE MOST FEARED INDIANS. IT IS A GEAT READ AND WELL WORTH THE TIME. I WONDER, COULD WE ENDURE THESE HARDSHIPS?
Book Review: Very impressive as an historical novel! Summary: 5 StarsI have placed this book on the top of my list of "most memorable" and have read the sequel. I have purchased four of the books and now wish to donate two copies to our library and find that it is no longer in print! Disastrous. Janice Woods Windle has an outstanding gift and one that is truly appreciated. Being a fan of Grisham, Cook, Ludlum, et al, this was quite a turn about for me. It possibly helped me appreciate Grisham's latest novel (the switch to emphasis being on adventure rather than law). I am forever a fan of Ms. Woods and hope she continues to write in the manner of fact/fiction. Gifted lady! Kay Clark
