Book Review: "He's trunk music now. You won't see him no more."
Summary: 4 Stars
As is usually the case, Connelly delivered another fast-paced thriller, full of twists and turns (and I really mean FULL of them), and that accomplished the goal of keeping my interest in the series at a pretty high level.
On the plus side, I really liked how the author decided to bring an important character from the past back into the mix. Knowing what was going to happen between Bosch and this character was one of the main drivers behind keeping me reading non-stop late into the night. The only problem with this is that this characteristic is a plus for me, but for someone that does not share my philosophy of reading series in order and comes across this book as her first Bosch novel, it may not be such a good thing.
On the other hand, as I already mentioned, the plot moves at breakneck speed and has plenty of twists, but it is not very original for people that have been reading Connelly's work consistently. This is not a great thing for me, but this time, newcomers will not have an issue with this and will probably enjoy it even more.
It seems that the elements just mentioned kind of balance each other, and we end up at a point in which I believe both regular readers and newcomers will have a very good time with this book. There are a couple of minor issues, depending on where you are coming from, but overall the result is more than satisfactory.
