Book Review: Not just for Delmore Brothers fans.
Summary: 5 Stars
This book throws light on very early artists and radio shows and the difficulty making a living as a performer during the 1930`s amid the depression. Of course it deals primarily with the Delmore Brothers early career but takes in encounters with stars of the time. All told in an intimate manner by Alton himself. Why were they not wealthy given the records they made and the influence their work had on so many artists that followed? What a shame the pages dealing with the King Records period and the boogie craze inspired by Rabones` "Hillbilly Boogie"(and subsequently Rock and Roll)were lent to a reporter and since lost! Are they still laying in a drawer somewhere,forgotten? What else might we have discovered? Still so many unanswered questions. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT BOOK.
