I bought "Tubby the Tuba" for my 3-year-old son last month, and it has been an unexpected smash hit. He has asked to hear it several times a day every day since we got it. (He is also a fan of "Carnival of Animals" and "Peter and the Wolf," but "Tubby" has elicited particular fervor.) He has memorized his favorite passages, learned to recognize the instruments by sound and sight, and is now asking to see the orchestra. An unexpected surprise!Book Review: I am very excited about this book!

My 2 year old grandchild loves this book/CD, and so do I. It has a darling story about feeling out of place, the importance of friends, (i.e./frog), and overcoming the negative aspects of ones life. The CD is a great addition, and perfect for an introduction to music and musical instruments. Our next 'day-trip' is to a music store to explore all the beautiful musical instruments!Book Review: This story is delightful!

Tubby the Tuba is a favorite in my classroom. It is best with the accompanying CD because the music is a big part of the storyline. We have listened to the story so many times the children in my class are able to hum the music. I am planning a lesson that includes a game of matching pictures of orchestra instruments to the sounds they produce using this book as an introduction.Book Review: Tubby the Tuba

This is a classic children's story. However, I was a little misled as to the narrator on the cd. The description of the story led me to believe it was the classic story with Danny Kaye narrating. My bad, I should have looked before I bought. But the story is so great for kids. Now I can't find the Danny Kaye version and don't even know if it's ever been mass-produced. Sorry.
