Book Review: Another solid story from Rhodes

PROS:
- Good depiction of a common fantasy: a sexy, tattooed bad boy with a heart of gold.
- Sex scenes that are hot and descriptive (nothing terribly kinky, but not boring) and emotional. (see cons list below also)
- Good writing. Rhodes does an excellent job of maintaining consistency in POV and establishing unique characters by examining their thoughts in detail. She does well getting inside their heads.
- Accurate descriptions of the uncertainty that comes with a new relationship, especially as concerns whether or not the other person likes you as much as you like him.
CONS:
- I don't like sex for the sake of sex, but the speed at which an emotional connection forms wasn't terribly believable for me. Their first sexual encounter is more than just f*ing, but at that point they still barely know each other. They go from simple mutual attraction (and strong fear and dislike on one side) to meaningful sex within a couple of hours after a brief one-on-one conversation in a bar.
- Slightly contrived conflict at the end of the second novella. I didn't feel that the action related to the "bad guy" was necessary; I thought the tension between the two characters trying to figure out their relationship was conflict enough.
Overall comments: A very good read, despite my nitpicky cons comments. Rhodes has established herself as one of my favorites in the genre; I like every book I've read by her.
