Book Review: Reality Tends to Stubbornly Reassert Itself

It appears that some reviewers have dismissed this book on the grounds that they have detected a bias (or, even more politically incorrect, a strongly held opinion) on the part of the author. If that's the case, folks, then just quit reviewing anything, because no one without a point of view is driven to write impactful books.
Part of critical reading is detecting the bias that every author has, and then trying to create some daylight between that bias and the facts or arguments presented. You might read opposing points of view, or you might research the source of the facts. But it's pretty good evidence of an unassailable fact when even those who disagree arrive at similar data.
We have a global AIDS pandemic that has killed more than 25 million people to date. It has been estimated that more than 1 million people are infected with an STD each day, 60 percent of whom are young people under 25. Those are not figures from Focus on the Family. I think it's safe to say that abstinence and fidelity are not to blame. It's also quite obvious what is.
To those who reject that conclusion as unwelcome moralizing, I have to concede that there is a moral dimension to it. But what difference does that make in the face of demonstrable medical realities? It's moralizing on some level to tell people to quit smoking, or to avoid driving while drunk. To willfully ignore plain facts in favor of sexual liberation ideology, particularly when contending with epidemics, is reckless madness. This book provides a couple hundred pages of sanity, and every high school and college student should have the opportunity to read it.
