Book Review: Amazingly done Summary: 5 StarsFirst book in a long time that I HAD to complete in one sitting, it took me 10 hours, but I was unable to walk away. I laughed, and cried with all the characters in the book. I never wanted the book to end! Well done.
Book Review: Outstanding --- Not Your Average Chick Lit - Summary: 5 StarsIn the wee hours (4 AM) I finished VEIL OF ROSES by Laura Fitzgerald. It's the first book I read on my Kindle and I thoroughly enjoyed the read and the format. Tami is a young woman from Iran who travels to Tucson to stay with her older sister and brother-in-law while she looks for a Persian husband. They have several candidates in mind for her but have told her that she does have the final say. Tami knows that an arranged marriage will be her lot in life. She only has a three-month visa though and must marry before it runs out or return to Iran. I very much enjoyed the cast of characters Fitzgerald introduces us to, particularly the other students in her ESL class. With a name like Fitzgerald one wonders what the author is doing writing a book about a woman from Iran. Turns out she is married to an Iranian man. The research seems very well done and I very much enjoyed learning more about a young woman's life in Iran as well. Of course, everything doesn't turn out as Tami had planned -- but to tell more would constitute a spoiler. I highly recommend this compelling read!!!
Book Review: Romantic and Eye Opening Summary: 5 StarsFor me this book served dual purposes; it was both entertaining and educational. Although it is a fictional book, the author was able to weave in cultural information and ideals from the main character's home country, Iran. The story line opened my eyes to aspects of another culture, which I always find fascinating. I think other readers will find this to be a quick read with a storyline that flows. I couldn't put it down.
