Velvet Angel:By Jude Deverau
Book Review: Captivating all the way to the last word. Summary: 5 Stars
I fell in love with this book immediately. I cried when the two were seperated. I was so enchanted by the appearances of the Montgomery brothers throughout the novel. I love the ending when all the Montgomrys come together with their wives to save their captured brother. I immediately went out and bought the rest of the series.
Book Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
I have read a few JD books since the beginning of the year and I have really loved some of the others such as the Heiress and the Raider but I found Velvet Angel rather disappointing. I didn't like Elizabeth and I thought that Miles must have been a real "goer" to have had already 3 children at the tender age of 20! I suppose they didn't have contraception in those days. Still it's not very romantic to read that the hero has so many children running around already even before he has met the heroine! I didn't think much of the plot either.
Book Review: Ending a little rushed... Summary: 4 Stars
Velvet Angel is the fourth book of the Montgomery men. I was just getting interested in the book when I found that it was over. While reading this, I got the feeling that Ms. Deveraux might be trying to meet her deadline and had to scrap the last 100 pages or so. It left me in the dark at times and I found myself wanting to know more about the characters.
Book Review: Fast paced and hard to put down Summary: 5 Stars
Velvet Angel is a beautiful story about Miles and Elizabeth Montgomery. The Chatworth and Montgomery families are involved in a bitter blood feud. Elizabeth Chatworth is captured by an ally of the Montgomery's and presented to Miles Montgomery as a gift. Of course, one look at Elizabeth's beauty was enough for Miles to know that he desired her above all else. But, as all courageous heroines are prone to do, Elizabeth made him work for it. Elizabeth and Miles eventually fall in love but the feud between their families threaten to tear them apart by undermining the fragile trust they have for each other.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fast-paced and beautifully woven. Not only is it a love story, but also a story about family, trust, and forgiveness.
