Book Reviews of Violin Dreams

Book Review: For all violinist wannabe's.
Summary: 5 Stars

Well crafted tale pulling together the romance of violins, violin history, and development of a professional violinist as well as argueably the greatest single work of music ever written.

Book Review: Great book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed this book - I am a pianist, not a violinist, but it was still fun and fascinating to read about Steinhardt's life with the violin.

Book Review: Humanity wins!
Summary: 5 Stars

This eminently readable book is a beautiful insight into the mind of one of America's most outstanding musicians and, coupled with the idee fixe of the great Bach Chaconne for Solo Violin it moves freely through centuries of great violins and a lifetime of contacts with many outstanding musicians of yesteryear. It is both inspiring and heartwarming!

Book Review: Portrait of a Musician
Summary: 5 Stars

Although some reviews of this book will likely recommend it for a narrow audience such as chamber musicians or classical musicians, the book really should have wider appeal. It is really about discovering your talent, working hard to develop it and finally using it to the best of your ability. This something that would be valuable for all people, especially young people.

An alternate title could have been "Violin Memories". The book was written by a man in his sixties. He remembers the name of his first violin teacher and the closet in his boyhood room. Probably a memory well-developed from remembering all those musical passages.

Book Review: Read This Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

Though this author writes in first person, there is seldom a feeling he is talking about "me". This is a wonderful first-person narrative.
