Book Reviews of Voyager (Outlander)Book Review: Diana Gabaldon Summary: 5 Stars
I love this series of books so much I recommend it to everyone I meet. The outlander series is the best series I have ever read, and I've read a lot of books. the first book in the series "Outlander", is the very best, most riveting story ever in the world! I laughed, and cried throughout. You won't regret buying this book and you'll want to save them in your library to read again or lend to all your best friends.
Book Review: Diana Gabaldon Series Summary: 5 Stars
I truly did not want to read this series of books. I had just finished everything Sharon Kay Penman wrote, and was looking for something else to read. Outlander was highly recommended by a lot of Penman's fans, but a woman traveling back in time? Anyway, I thought what the heck and bought it. I LOVED IT. I am completely hooked, and bought the whole series, except for Drums of Autumn, and went out of my mind trying to order it ASAP. Just got that one yesterday, and already 300 pages read. When this series is over, I'm going to miss it like I did Jane Austen, Penman, Bronte sisters, Francis Burney, and on and on. Where is my Jaime? Why isn't my husband like him,,,,LOL.
Book Review: Diana Gabaldon is the best fiction writer ever Summary: 2 Stars
I really do not understand reviews that basically tell you the whole plot of the book beforehand. Personally, I like to know OTHER books reviewers like (to create a yardstick) and also compare this book to others the author wrote. Please do NOT give away the plot in your review people!!! For me, Diana Gabaldon is the yardstick in which I evaluate all other books. I am a voracious reader, I read about 2-4 books a week, 95% fiction. I like romance, (but only if it has a great plot, not "bodice rippers". ) Time travel, and fantasy. This authors characters are so alive you might really, really believe they are real! Her books are not for the "weekend warrier" type of reader, they are wordy and long. For me, this means I miss a lot the first time around (ADD!) so I get to read them over and over, enjoying new things each time. Her history is correct and these books might spark an interest in Scottish or European history. The entire Claire/Jaime series is incredible, for anyone who enjoys outstanding writing, even if this is not your first pick of genre.
p.s. I rated this book 5 stars but it came out 2 and would not let me correct it when I clicked edit.
Book Review: Dinna Trouble Yourself Summary: 2 Stars
So, OK... I admit that I liked Outlander and Dragonfly... but Voyager was just ludicrous. But after slogging my way through Voyager, I feel complete with the series. I realize that this book is supposed to be over-the-top action and people admire it because the lovers aren't in their 20's. But Gabaldon over-uses phrases and all judgements about people are based on what their eyebrows are doing. The setting of the various boats they are in are claustrophobic and Claire is taken hostage so many times in the three books I have read, you would think that she would be used to it. If you want non-stop action, then go for it. But this is definitely a book for plot junkies.
Book Review: Does it again Summary: 5 Stars
Ms. Gabaldon has kept the story alive for me once again. She knows how to keep the reader hooked on the characters and the premise of going back in time. I can't wait to read the next book.
