Book Review: We Will Never Know

Another person does a book about this "twisted" young man. Well it's alot better than that short lived and now out of print paper back that was written like a month after Andrew killed himself. Ms Orth did a wonderful job of digging into Andrew's past and uncovering his childhood. I'm not surprised he did what he did, his father and mother were both cases for an institution. His sister and brothers want money to talk about Andrew, they did not help with this book. They didn't see their brother in ten years, didn't talk to him..yet they are experts in their eyes because they "knew" him. I beg to differ. A person can change alot in ten years, and Andrew did alot of changing in ten years! Andrew seem to be something diffrent all the time. It was very disturbing to see this young man's decent into madness. He could have had the world at his feet, but he didn't relize it. Ms. Orth's research is wonderful and well done; she takes us from Andrew's growing up, to his running around the chic gay world that he lived in. She takes us into people's lives and lets us feel like we know them. She has us meet the victims know what was going on in their lives, how they knew Andrew. She let's us walk with Andrew in his "crazy" world. We will never know what happened with Andrew, why he did what he did, other than we know that something..or someone made him "snap". Now, the FBI...what the hell were they doing? They were walking around with their heads up their butts. Do we really need these people? What do they do all day? I still find it hard to belive that they couldn't find this guy. It seemed so simple where he was, yet they didn't seem to take that into account. And no one really took it seriously untill he killed Versace. On a personal note here...had anyone out there ever heard the name Versace before he was killed. I didn't know who he was. This is a rare book that does not give it's own personal view on anything, it let's you do that. One of the few books this year that really deserves to be on the bestseller list, more than Monica's. Ms. Orth did a great job.
