Book Review: A great cleansing

This is the second Paul David Tripp book I have read and he is one of the few authors who understands that the heart is the issue. For behavior and communication to change, we need to allow Jesus to change our hearts. Reading this book may make you feel uncomfortable at times as Mr. Tripp pulls back the curtain on the motives of your heart, but ultimately you will feel cleansed as you confess the idols of your life before the Lord. At the end of each chapter, he lists a series of questions about yourself that are very hard hitting and revealing. However, he does not leave you in the mire. He always points people back to the King, who is bigger and more powerful than our sin and circumstances. I found his chapter entitled "Following the King for all the wrong reasons" to be extremely convicting and freeing. Mr. Tripp's books are easy to read because he presents himself as someone who struggles with following his own idols and communication failings - he is a fellow traveler, not just a counselor pointing out what is wrong with you.
This book is applied theology that should help you in how you communicate.
