Book Reviews of WatchersBook Review: An inspiring Tale of wits and human suffrage Summary: 5 Stars
This was the first Dean Koontz book I've read. I was given the book by a friend/co-worker for my 25th birtday. This book is a tresure to me.
Without offending any of Mr. Koontz's fans I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with his writing. I felt his prose weak, and his use of weak and unecessary adjectives a bit disconcerting. (Sorry Mr. Koontz)Still in all this proves what I'll always stand by, if you have a good story with a strong plot like Watchers, it doesn't matter how poor the writing.
Not that the writing was poor. It just wasn't up to par and felt that anyone else who may have written it could've done a better job with the prose. I hate saying that because I loved the book.
I was so in love with Einstein and hated the Outsider. In the end the author made you pity the horrible monster, and made you understand why people do things they do in life despite the consequences. This book is a tale about human suffarage and has inspired me so.
Kudos to Mr. Koontz and his fantastic outlook on life. As an animal lover with a friend who I consider just as important as Nora and Travis regarded Enistein, I hold this book dear to my heart. Despite the harhness of my previous words, loving the story and loving the author for his work is what matters afterall!
Book Review: An oddly popular Koontz book I didn't like Summary: 2 Stars
Many Koontz fans I know list this book as one of their favorite Koontz novels, but I list it amoung my least favorites. The premise of this book didn't appeal to me, and it just struck me as cartoonish. The book had good build-up, but was anti-climatic. One of the villian characters is quite interesting, however. But, I don't feel he justifies reading the book for. Consider one of Koontz other novels.
Book Review: Any Book I Regret Finishing Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to know the ending, but reached that 3 days ago, yet I'm feeling lost now that I've finished it. A great read that put's you in such harmony with the protagonists that you feel a part of their story. I loved it and wish the author had seen fit to produce a sequel.
Book Review: Awesome Book! Summary: 4 Stars
I never read books twice, but I think I may have read Watchers at least five times. I love this book. It is fiction, however, if you have ever loved golden retrievers, you will appreciate the dog, Einstein, that stars in this one. The story is easy to follow and keeps your suspense so that you do not want to put it down. I suggest this as a must read-it is one of Dean Koontz's best!
Book Review: Awesome Book, Awesome Dog! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite Koontz book of all time after reading at least half of his library. I received Watchers as a Christmas gift in 1999. The gift giver had read the book and knew I was an animal lover who would enjoy the book. Well, I did far more than enjoy the book! It was excellent. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it scared the pants off me, and it still has me in awe every time I think about it. I have read Koontz books before, but this was by far the best. Anyone who loves animals and is a sensitive soul will appreciate the underlying ideas in this book. Hard to put down, so make sure you have plenty of time to devote to the intricate characters in this book. This is Koontz at his best, tugging at your heartstrings while stringing you into the storyline. Happy Reading!
