Book Review: A fantastic intro to St. Ignatius's Spiritual Exercises

A fantastic introduction into the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. As a newbie to Ignatian Contemplation, I bought this book years ago. Recently I have had the chance to re-read it and found a wealth of information in this book which led to a better understanding of what I was taught to do when I first started Ignatian Contemplation, and when I moved into doing a 30-week retreat in daily life. A must-read for all people who are interested to find out the dynamics of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and how each Exercise is supposed to lead one closer to God. I would say that this book should be on the bookshelf of one who is into meditative and contemplative prayer. Take this book first as an intro into the Spiritual Exercises, then as one progresses in his/her prayer life, this book serves to provide information as to what the Spiritual Exercises are leading to. Well, at least it did for me. I begin to understand the Spiritual Exercises more as I re-read this book. Further, the author provides imagery exercises which would help a pray-er to get into contemplation. The writing style is easy to read and the explanations explicit and easy to follow. I found this book to be a gem.
