Book Reviews of We the People: The Story of Our ConstitutionBook Review: Excellent book for children... Summary: 5 StarsWe the People, is another great book from Lynne Cheney. I've read it to our 8 and 6 yr old boys a couple of times...they loved the illustrations. Our 6 yr old sort of lost interest by the end, but then again he's 6! LOL! I'd say its good for children age 7 & up.
Book Review: Well written Summary: 5 StarsAlthough written for an elementary level, the story of the constitution by Mrs. Cheney was interesting and well written for all ages. A good picture of the struggles and authenticity of the writers of the constitution. Recommended for any age reader.
Book Review: Our thoughts Summary: 3 StarsWhile we basically enjoyed the book, there is one serious omission that would make the book better - there should be a copy of the Constitution in the book. A copy of the Constitution would tie it all together.
Book Review: We the People Summary: 4 StarsBook was too deep for my 6 year old grandchild, but I really liked the way she presented the Constitution. After watching the "John Adams" series on HBO, I am excited to read about that period and want my children & their kids to appreciate our government.
Book Review: Disappointed Summary: 1 StarsI was excited to see this book advertised and immediately ordered 2 copies for my grandchildren. Upon receiving them, I sat down to read it. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. First, it was quite short, then the language was a bit stilted and antiquated, and the story could have been expanded to show the frustrations and then the excitement of bringing this young country to its lustrous beginning.
Here was a chance to open the eyes and minds of our young children to a subject that at best can be a bit boring. This book does nothing to change that. What a shame.
