Book Reviews of What the Bleep Do We Know!?: Discovering the Endless Possibilities for Altering Your Everyday RealityBook Review: The Movie was Flawed... the Book is Flawed. Summary: 1 StarsThe physics in this book is stretched into philosophies that can't possibly be derived from the data. The movie was just as flawed, only more confusing due to its pace and the little Flubber guy.
Book Review: What do you want your life to be like? Summary: 5 StarsHow do you create your reality? Are you getting what you want in your life? Or only what you think you deserve? How are you doing that? This book examines these issues in depth using quantum mechanics - definitely NOT for people who don't want to take responsibility for their lives -
Book Review: Why the Heated Controversy? Summary: 5 StarsOne cannot help but notice that this book, and others like it, elicits reviews that either praise or revile unconditionally. Why is this the case? Whenever a major paradigm shift takes place, humans tend to ignore it for as long as possible. When this is no longer feasible, they react with either excitement or abject fear. The discoveries made in quantum physics during the twentieth century were interesting as long as they did no more than peek out of the lab occasionally to titillate us with an interesting tidbit of information we could quickly forget. But now, as we discover that these quantum discoveries have limitless potential to change our world and ourselves, the excitement and the fear set in. Not even Einstein was immune to such a reaction as he admitted, "It was as if the ground had been pulled out from under one, with no firm foundation to be seen anywhere, upon which one could have built."
This book tells us several things that are bound to either excite or frighten us, the first being that the quantum paradigm shift is inevitable. This is a very uncomfortable thought for anyone convinced that they must see something in order to believe it. Next, the authors announce that "consciousness creates reality," a thought that can be exciting or terrifying for two important reasons. 1. Everything happens at the level of the mind. This means the actions you take have far less impact that the thoughts you think. (oh, oh!) 2. What you think, you create in your world. In other words, there are no victims. (double oh, oh!) Everything you see and experience is the result of your own thinking process. These two points are very positive for those who see the potential for change, and very frightening for those who enjoy shirking personal responsibility or playing the blame game.
Many cite Ramtha as the basis for their disgust with this book and its companion movie. There is no need to buy into Ramtha to benefit from the wealth of scientific information and thought provoking material contained in the book. We didn't care for the rather self-serving epilogue, but found it to be a dessert that could be declined without ruining the meal. An ancient proverb recommends that we avoid those who are unable to envision a reality greater than the one they know. Conversely, a wise person would seek the company of those who are engaged in envisioning realities not yet fully known. We are grateful that such companions can be found throughout the pages of this book. Read the information, ponder the questions that end each chapter, enjoy the chapter that describes the making of the movie, and above all else, move forward with great excitement! (And it's perfectly acceptable to feel some fear, but do it anyway.)
Lee & Steven Hager are the authors of Quantum Prodigal Son: Revisiting Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son from the Perspective of Quantum Mechanics
Book Review: Nice companion to the movie Summary: 5 StarsI bought this after seeing the movie- Helps me understand the concepts involved, its a great companion!
Book Review: A big waste of money Summary: 1 StarsThis movie - if you can call it that - said very little about the subject matter, and simply tried to back up its statements with opinions of others, not facts or studies. If I could return it, I would.
