Book Reviews of What to Expect When Your Wife is Expanding: A Reassuring Month-by-Month Guide for the Father-to-Be, Whether He Wants Advice or Not

Book Review: waste of time
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is good for a couple of laughs but mostly it's useless, plays on stupid stereotypes and is crass. There are other pregnancy books out there that manage to be funny while at the same time actually being enlightening and providing helpful information - unlike this book.

Book Review: Hilarious!
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this book because he thought it would be fun to read. I don't think he actually got to read this book because I was always stealing it! It is hilarious there is no other way to describe it. There are cartoon pictures of what you can "expect" your wife to look like and there is a guide of what you need to buy each month.

It puts a lighthearted spin on pregnancy that at times can be much needed. There does seem to be some filler hence the 4 stars. But if you are looking for a funny book this is the one. I can't say enough good things about this book, it's the perfect pregnancy companion. Also at times the woman in the book seems to have it harder than the avg. pregnant woman.

Book Review: Funny but educational too
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great gift for the new father-to-be. It takes a light hearted look at these 9 (10) months from the man's side but also teaches along the way.

Book Review: some real moments of humor with too much filler
Summary: 3 Stars

Yes, it is a parody of the What to expect when you're expecting real book on pregnancy written for the father. Now that you know that, it is amusing in places with some downright funny parts, but overall I wish it had been funnier. Maybe it tries to give real advice every once in a while instead of sticking to just humor which might confuse some readers (judging from the reviews that didn't notice it was funny?). I feel the same way about this book I feel about episodes of Monty Python and the Flying Circus -- some great skits with lots of mediocre bits thrown in. It was a clever idea that I feel could have reached even higher comic levels, but as a quick funny read for fathers, it might just hit the spot.

Book Review: Cute
Summary: 2 Stars

There are moments here when I found myself very amused. But all in all there are funnier books. For example, I loved "Delano" by John Orozco. That was hysterical.
