If you've ever wondered 'Whatever happened to Peggy Sue?', the girl Buddy Holly sang about in the song of the same title, then this book will not only answer that question, but will provide insight into the lives and times of some of the people she knew. Peggy Sue tells the vivid story of an average girl thurst into the spotlight by the popular song bearing her name.
Some authors write stories that claim to report facts, when really, their main thrust is to tear down their subjects. Peggy Sue Gerron and her co-author, Glenda Cameron, have crafted a revealing story based on a diary Peggy Sue kept. The result is a well-written and informative book that left this reader with the impression that those described therein were flesh and blood individuals, complete with their strengths and weaknesses.
Whilst some of the details might be perceived as unflattering, they are not the focus of this book. It is the impression of this reader that Peggy Sue took great care to blend the positive aspects of the people involved in her life, with their real actions and emotions. Peggy Sue does not waste the reader's time relating myths. She has told a story that is long overdue.
Some would have us believe that certain people can 'do no wrong', as it were. They want to protect the perception that others have of those who have come to be in the public eye, be they alive or dead.
