Book Review: An interesting read but hardly groundbreaking
Summary: 3 Stars
This is a book that neatly encapsulates the story of Eminem from 1999 to now, but that is its major problem. That is a story that has been written many many times before. I really was hoping for an insight into Eminems life before he became famous. The author does provide some interesting comment on Eminem and his place in American culture and the transformation from Rap devil to Spokesman for a generation but again it has been written elsewhere before. Having said that the book is well written and it is nice to have someone writing about Eminem who doesn't seem to have a hidden agenda/problem with him or his music. Some of the interviews with US music industry people are interesting and some of their (hidden?) feelings about Eminem and his rise to the fore of rap can be read between the lines.All in all I may have expected too much and I did enjoy this book, I guess I will have to wait for the man himself to write his auto biography and tell his whole story.
