And he draws us to remember (or learn for the first time) that it is the Word of God, and the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, that will bring us joy in our lives. Nothing else will truly provide it. Having good friends, a good job, an enjoyable life, and even a good church will never bring us the level of joy that God has in store for us until we set our foundations on Christ first - and then the joy comes.

In order to help us begin the process of disciplining ourselves in reading the Word, in prayer, and in memorising the Word, he gives us at the back of the book a multitude of specific helps such as websites, other books, booklets, and more. This book came just at the time when I was not struggling with doing what I know to be right, but in enjoying it.
