Book Review: A great book for all ages!
Summary: 4 Stars
14 year old Emma Simpson is a girl who lives with her mother. Her dad and brother are in the civil war fighting for freedome but her brother was dropped off on her doorstep dead. He had died during battle. Emma hopes that nobody else in her family will die but things don't always go her way! Emma's mom gets very sick and dies too. Emma's cousin and aunt stay with Emma until her father returns home from the war. Emma and her family are doing well until some Yankees come and take over their house. Now all off her family live in a small place were they are very hungry. Emma's aunt doesn't get much sleep because of Emma's baby cousin that is sick and won't stop crying. This civil war turns everything upside down for the Simpson family and soon Emma loses her tiny baby cousin. Now it is only cousin Rachael, Emma's aunt and Emma! Emma spends most of the night crying and hoping the war will soon end and her father will come home safely and everything will be ok again. But nothing will be the same! Emma's mom brother and cousin are now all dead and now all she has to look forward to is her father coming home from the cruel war!
