Book Reviews of White Night (The Dresden Files, Book 9)Book Review: Out-freaking-standing; Butcher is at the top of his game... Summary: 5 StarsRemarkable! While most series authors tail off into mediocrity after their first few books, Butcher just keeps getting better and better with each installment in this outstanding series. There are enough other reviewers who have alread posted that you probably already know the plot, but in short when Dresden begins investigating some suspicious suicides he discovers that someone is killing off minor wizards... and his half brother Thomas is the primary suspect. As usual what seems straightforward at first becomes a complicated, perilous case. Everyone is intelligently written, even the most minor characters. Despite the fact that this is the most intricate plot yet, the pacing is perfect, making it extraordinarily hard to put this thing down even when you have much better things to do then bury yourself in a book. Further, the witty dialogue we've come to expect is kicked up yet another notch. In short, it is just about perfect. A fantastic, fun, highly entertaining read... Very highly recommended!
Book Review: Getting Better All The Time Summary: 5 StarsI just finished this book in less than a day, because I could not put it down! Jim Butcher does not disappoint with this latest in the increasingly popular Dresden Files series; in fact he seems to be improving with every book, which is rare with a series.
I must admit that at first I found many of the elements out of place, but I was proven wrong as Butcher neatly handled all the complexity and suspension this book had to offer, and left nothing unaccounted for. The story was fast-paced and full of plot twists and thickenings, keeping the reader frantically trying to keep up with Dresden as he chases the bad guys through the streets of Chicago and sitting on the edge of their chairs through the entire book.
Butcher clearly knows what he is doing here, and while both the reader and the characters may not be aware of what's coming, it is also clear Butcher has everything neatly and compellingly mapped out as he deftly increases the intricacy of the plot with every book.
Book Review: One of his Best! Summary: 5 StarsButcher's writing style has matured in this seventh Harry Dresden tale. What remains the same is the humor, tense situations, personal revelations all within the world Butcher creates. There is enough here to satisfy everyone. Please don't base the books on the TV series. The books are far more interesting than the TV show (which portrays Harry as a detective more than he is a wizard). The relationships among the characters are complex and well drawn out and make for a great reading experience. Give this a try, you won't be sorry.
Book Review: Enjoy visiting old friends..... Summary: 5 Stars Eagerly devoured this book in one night because I could'nt let it go. Will not go into a big review because others have. I have re-read all 8 books of the HArry Dresdan series numerous times and highly recommend reading this exciting series. Now will have to chew my fingernails because I have to wait until next year to read #10. Read this series you will be glad that you did. Harry is getting very exciting and this series will be building up to an explosive comclusion, and I'll be there all the way.
Book Review: Over All Summary: 5 StarsI enjoyed this book just as much as the rest of the series. A frien of mine recomended them, and in short order my boyfriend and I devoured them. We now own them all.
White Knight was a fantastic book all together. It is not often books make me laugh out loud, and this one does quite often. The worst part of finishing this book so early is having to wait for the next one.
